When we traveled with my divorced dad
We would always try and talk him into staying at a motel that had a pool
The pool meant fun
He considered it a nuisance
It meant he had to watch us
Rather than head to the tavern
Somehow he always found the motel
That looked good as we drove in
But the pool was always closed
Repairs, out of season, any other reason
He'd look at us an grin
"Aww the pools closed. Too bad kids."
"Nothing I can do. I already paid for the room"
He'd leave us alone in the motel room
And walked to the nearest bar
Not to return until late at night
In my heart, I think he somehow had a way of knowing
Which pool was closed
And always chose that motel
I was looking over my referrer logs and noticed someone from Osseo Wisconsin was on BHFH tonight. Man, I'm so freaking jealous. Osseo is home to Norske Nook. The mecca of pie. The - best - pie -on - the - planet. God himself created the Norske Nook. It's heaven on earth.
(great, now I really really want a big bas ass slice of lingonberry-apple pie)
In the old days, restaurants and nightclubs offered photo services to their guests. The sleeves that contained the photos were sometimes more entertaining than the photos themselves.
What do you want to know?
1. Matt - "When isn't it?"
When your gut, your heart, your soul tells you that something is wrong.
Then, it never was
2. Coke - "Should one feel guilty about continually not doing something that probably wouldn't really make much difference anyway?"
True change begins when you stop telling yourself to change and begin acting upon what is causing the negative feelings you are having about yourself. Guilt is a way of punishing yourself. You constantly reaffirm that you are a "bad person". You are not. The circle of thought that you are caught in is the problem. Focus on movement and action rather than punishing yourself with negative thoughts.
3. Franko - "Can't we all just get along?"
Generally no. People need opinions to feel they have a place in the world. Forcing those opinions onto others gives their otherwise fearful lives meaning. All anger comes from fear.
4. Abraham Lincoln - "Name three simple pleasures that are almost as much fun as sex."
These folks offer 30 answers. I would pick 4, 29 and 3.
5. Budman - "Are we there yet?"
I told you to use the bathroom before we left.
Thank every one of you
Who went out and voted
I pray we return to sanity
I pray for a new day
Across the country
They waited for the count
And with a inner smile
Knew what the results would be
