Across the world New Years Day signals change. With an eye towards the future, we raise a glass and say;
"This year will be different"
"This year will be better"
"This year I will live the life I've always wanted"
We make our resolutions. There are small resolutions made and then there are big ones.
I've decided to make a big one.
Life is a gift that we all tend to overlook. The moments pass by and you realize that there is so much more that you could be doing but yet you continue to follow a path without questioning where it leads. You walk by a fountain on your way to work and ask yourself "Why can't I sit down and put my feet in the water and enjoy the afternoon." You smile to yourself and head towards the entrance of your office building. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe then.
Bighappyfunhouse has been a blast to run. It's awesome knowing that every day there's a couple of thousand people who stop by to see the found photos, wonder about the free pie and leave a comment or two. I feel like I have friends I've never met.
There are times I'd like to get to know some of you. Stop by and visit. Go out for pie. Show some (found) home movies in the living room. Go bowling. Wouldn't that be a blast?
By making tomorrow today.
Saint Augustine said "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
In the spirit of old Saint Auggie comes this resolution. I'm selling all my crap, buying a motorhome and spending the next year traveling the US and visiting some of you. It's something I've wanted to do for sometime now.
I'll be planning a route over the next couple of weeks. If you want to host a home movie show, go bowling or go get some pie, drop me an email and I'll add you to the map.
I'm also looking for an rv - camper- motorhome that I can turn into a rolling Bighappyfunhouse (eeek). So if your grandpa has decided to sell his motorhome, let me know. If that same grandpa has an incontinence problem, it's probably not a motorhome I'm interested in buying. I'm going to be looking for one over the next couple of weeks so there's plenty of time to find that vintage
moneypit motorhome that I'll call home.
Don't worry, I'll still keep Bighappyfunhouse up and running (laptop w/wireless broadband).
A good friend of mine (who is no longer with us) once told me "Everyday above ground be happy. "
I'm going to go be happy.
